The OUYA team just released update #2 on their Kickstarter page. There were a few announcements made, addressing some of the concerns that people have had over the project.
The first big concern people had is over the OUYA controller: the prototype image showing each of the 4 buttons as a “circle” of a different color. This raised some concerns as it could be confusing to players and also posed a problem to those with color-blindness. The OUYA team promises to address this issue, and it’s likely that the images shown at this point are just mockups.
They also addressed the issue of whether or not the OUYA will have an ethernet port. So far nothing has been announced, but it seems that there has been a lot of public demand for one so far, and the OUYA team says that there will be future news on the subject.
Possible Early OUYA Units For Developers
The OUYA team is considering a Kickstarter donation tier for developers that would get them an early circuit board prototype for the purposes of getting a head start on development. While this isn’t set in stone yet, they’re looking for feedback.
Things are looking pretty good for the OUYA project so far. Let’s hope that the upcoming Kickstarter stretch goals are interesting, and that more developers hop onto the OUYA train!
